Listen to our voices here and here!
Most Neighborhood Writing Alliance events were recorded by Chicago Amplified. If you missed one, or would like to hear it again, it just may be here for your listening enjoyment.
The Neighborhood Writing Alliance (NWA), the Journal of Ordinary Thought (JOT), and the writers themselves have been recognized numerous times. Read what others have to say about our efforts to build community through writing workshops and storytelling. And, listen to our recent performances at the 2007 Chicago Humanities Festival and other events.
Twice each year, NWA identifies common themes in our participants' writing and develops special programming around those topics. These intensive theme-based programs provide important insights that are often useful in writing and storytelling, and also allow participants' to connect their own ideas and experiences to literature and history. NWA's well-rounded humanities and educational programming help to enrich the perspectives and reflections of our writers and the audiences we reach. Read more about our current and previous themes here.
NWA presents the writers and their work at more than 25 events and readings each year. Join us at a reading or performance to hear the writers tell their stories in person.
